2014 Year in Review

It’s been a wild year, not just for gaming but for me personally. I joined a gaming website, I built a gaming PC and have spent the last few months in complete seclusion but I have emerged from my cave, older and more unkempt to deliver my thoughts on the year that was 2014. As I did last year, I’m going to go over the year before delving into my personal top three games of the year. I also have a special surprise for all of you at the end of the list so stay tuned for that.

I feel like the world may actually end by the time The Division comes out.

Ninja Theory Announces DmC: Definitive Edition

Dante is coming to current-gen consoles. Ninja Theory announced via the Playstation Blog, DmC: Definitive Edition which will port the 2013 reboot of the Devil May Cry series to the Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Microsoft is Publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is being published by Microsoft. According to a tweet from Aaaron Greenberg, the marketing boss of Microsoft’s 1st and 3rd party games, Microsoft will be taking up publishing duties for the game, which is due to release first on Xbox One in Holiday 2015.

Final Fantasy XIII Resolution Patch Coming Next Week

The long awaited patch for the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII will be released on Dec. 11, according to a post on Steam from Square Enix. This patch will add custom resolutions to the game, allowing it to be played in 1080p resolution. This is good news for PC players.

Resident Evil HD Releases Next Month

Resident Evil HD is coming in January according to Capcom. The HD remaster of the 2002 remake of the 1996 classic will be available digitally in North America and Europe on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on Jan. 20 at a retail price of $19.99.

After playing the Evolve Alpha for ten hours the word I keep coming back to is different. Yes, Evolveis a shooter, but it’s a different kind of shooter. It’s not just a multiplayer game, it’s a different kind of multiplayer game; an asymetrical online-only 4 vs 1 class-based shooter to be exact. Different can mean many things and the split between a game being unique and a game being weird is measured by quality. I can safely say that Evolve is a unique game.

Winter is coming and Telltale Games is eager to deliver. The first trailer for Telltale Games six-part Game of Thrones series was revealed today. The trailer is very short but long enough for some familiar faces to show up, including Tyrion Lannister and Cersei Lannister. Telltale Games have confirmed that some cast members from the show will be reprising their roles in the game.

Ready your weapons Vault Hunters. A new trailer for the latest Telltale Games series Tales from the Borderlands was released this morning. The trailer details where the game take place in theBorderlands series, which is after the events of Borderlands 2 in case you were wondering. The trailer prominently features Troy Baker and Laura Bailey as the two main characters and also shows Patrick Warburton and Dameon Clarke, who reprises his role as Handsome Jack. Claptrap, the series mascot, is curiously absent from this trailer though he’s bound to make his way into the series.
