Who is Aspie Gamer?

Photo of Me

Aspie Gamer is an autistic, Canadian, video game enthusiast. He is in his early twenties and enjoys discussing all things video games. He’s currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Journalism Program at Kwantlen Polytechnic Univeristy, in his fourth year.

What is the purpose of this blog?

This weekly blog is intended to discuss various issues and topics all relating to the video games industry. The ultimate goal is to provide insight into what video games are, what makes them great, and how they function as an artistic medium.

Some of the images on your posts aren’t loading, what’s going on?

Ah yes, let me explain. I get all my images off the internet and sometimes the source of the image is taken for whatever reason. The reason I don’t upload the images to WordPress is because given the amount of posts I write, I’d quickly reach the data limit for images I have. If it’s a really big issue, you can comment on my older posts and I’ll try to fix it. I don’t have any intention of going back and looking through my old posts.

Do you review games on your blog?

Not often, reviews take a lot of time to do and there’s already plenty of people doing enough of that. I rarely buy games when they are new to begin with, which is usually when most people are interested.

I’ve found that the only way to be sure if you like a video game is to play it yourself . That being said when I review a game I make sure to know the difference between how I feel about a game and whether or not it’s any good. Above everything else, remember that you can always trust your own opinion more than mine; so if I give a game you like a bad score, don’t take it personally.

Why are you called Aspie Gamer?

Aspie is a slang term that refers to people with Aspergers syndrome. I am diagnosed with higher-functioning autism (which is arguably similar to Aspergers). I call myself Aspie Gamer to refer to the fact that I am both autistic and a video gamer and because I don’t like the way Autistic Gamer sounds.

How long have you been playing video games?

I’m not exactly sure, but I started playing in the early 2000s. My first game was Crash Bandicoot: Warped on the Playstation.

What’s your favourite video game?

There’s no chance in hell I’ll be able to narrow it down to just one, some of favourites are Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords.

Do you have any plans to make videos?

I’ve got ambitions to switch from written posts to videos, I currently lack the camera equipment and the editing software. Definitely have plans for it though, so stay tuned.

Is there anything else I should know about you?
